Plouse, York College Students Collaborate to Design and Build Formula-Style Race Car
5/8/2013
Through our Community Investment Program, Plouse Precision Manufacturing collaborates with York College of Pennsylvania to design and build a formula-style race car, set to compete in the Formula SAE Student Design Competition and Race organized by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) International.
Kyle Ebersole, a senior at York College of Pennsylvania, is part of the engineering team responsible for building the race car. Ebersole turned to Plouse to collaborate on and produce precision parts.
Plouse hit the ground running, working side-by-side with the York College students, providing engineering services to aid with the concept drawings, straight through to manufacturing the parts.
"It was very easy working with Plouse on this project," says Kyle Ebersole. "We were on a very tight schedule, so we were counting on Plouse to come through in time and they did. Even with the last-minute changes we made, the team and I were impressed with the quality of the parts."
Plouse collaborated with the students to create six parts for the formula-style race car, including two rear hubs, two front uprights and two rear uprights. The car was completed at the end of March, with Plouse's name displayed on the side. The York College Engineering Department participated in the Formula FSAE race which took place in early May.
