Machine Shop Inspector

About the Position:

Our clients are quality driven companies serving industries ranging from aerospace products to commercial goods. We are looking for a Quality Control/Machine Shop Inspector. An understanding of GD&T is required.

Ideal job seekers will have experience operating the following tooling.

  • Programming and operating a CMM (Mitutoyo MCOSMOS)
  • Optical measuring equipment such as ram scope, comparator and profilometers
  • Microscopes to identify nonconforming parts.
  • Micrometers and Calipers
  • Thread, pin, block, and ring gages

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible to conduct incoming inspection, 1st piece inspection, and final inspection of finished parts against established standards. Maintains all necessary inspection tools in good operating and calibrated condition, as well as meticulous records of inspection results.

Requirements:

  • Incoming Inspection:
  • Responsible to check all incoming parts and material for conformity.
  • Verify against packing slips, POs, and mechanical drawings (prints).
  • Use tools mentioned above in the inspection of our parts.
  • Document and Report all deviations and non-conformances to the Quality Manager.
  • Works with Quality Manager and Engineering on final disposition of parts or materials and provides input where possible.
  • Notify the Quality Manager for notification to the vendor or customer.
  • Generates Inspection Reports by recording all inspection results of incoming materials and parts. Itemizes each characteristic of parts against engineering drawing, customer supplied specs and documents as shown in the route for a thorough inspection.

In-Process Inspection:

  • Perform 1st piece inspections.
  • Verifies process steps for each job.
  • Use precision measuring tools and machines to measure each part.
  • Generates 1st Piece Inspection Reports verifying each characteristic of the part against the engineering drawing.

Final Inspection:

  • Uses appropriate tools in the completion of this task.
  • Conducts a visual review of the finished part to the print.
  • Must have knowledge of custom applications when reviewing finished parts. Must refer to drawings, documentation, and specifications.
  • In reviewing test data, the inspector will confer with the appropriate parties on anything that does not correlate to the designed specification.
  • Produces all necessary finished parts documentation:
  • Certificate of Compliance.
  • Inspection Sheet.
  • Test Data.
  • May on occasion discuss quality control aspects with the customer. Documents every conversation to confirm compliance with customer specifications.

Education:

Experience:
